Readers’ Comments

‘A wonderfully written historical novel. It covers so many aspects of life back then, from prejudice to the effects of the Second World War. The writing style light and, thankfully, not overly descriptive. The author depends on speech to do much of the work in developing the characters and setting the scene. Very much enjoyed it.’ ~  Male reader, aged 54

‘I liked the pacing very much, slow at the right time, fast when needed. The setting is fantastic; the sort of place a reader can just fall into.’  ~  Female reader, aged 42

‘This novel is a bit of a find! Loved it from page 1. The characters jump right out at you. Solid pacing and an interesting ending. Very good indeed.’  ~  Male reader, aged 48

‘Race and racism is an important element of this novel. The author looks at them in an interesting way, through the eyes of Jerry. I thought it was a fascinating read.’  ~  Female reader, age 51
