I’m Bobby Holbrook’s sister, Kathy. I so enjoyed your first book on the “book club” in my birthplace. My brother Ron old me you were writing another one that would be released in July, 2012, but that didn’t happen obviously. I very much look forward to your next writing and any to follow that one. It is interesting to read what the people in your book have to say. I really believe the book has brought a feeling of continuity to Delphi and Fabius. Just finished the book, Jerry. Enjoyed it very much, especially the part where you and your friends were chasing all the chickens and geese, trying to shoo them into the barn. That could have been an Our Gang comedy. Talk to you soon.

what a surprise to pick up an issue of Travel Host and learn about your book, which I am going to order ASAP. I grew up in Cortland NY in the same era. Born in 1939 in Syracuse, I moved to Cortland where my father took a job teaching at Cortland High School. He was not in the service as his job was teaching airplane repair etc as he was an Industrial Arts teacher. I remember the blackouts, listening to the radio and the day the war ended with Gov. Dewey being in town visiting Dr Lankler and family and on hand for the celebration downtown Cortland. We were having a picnic at the Homer Water works when the bells started ringing and the impromptu celebrations began.

After reading Mary Crane Duba’s review, I agree with her observations. It is a wonderful reminder of our days growing up in a caring community. Your book brought back the best of memories…we gals also used to meet in the cemetery. You can tell it was a VERY small town!

Just got this announcement by chance through my family. I was born in 1952 – Delphi Falls (different war memories – Vietnam). We have a lot in common as I travel the world solo and write of my escapades…the little girl from Delphi Falls. I will be in Syracuse this week, but have to leave for NYC on Friday. Would love to have met you and will definitely download the book to my Kindle. I can’t wait to read about my bother-in-law.

What a great read Jerry! I know all the people in the book which makes for a closer, more intimate connection. Your childhoold was a lot like mine. You may remember my older sisters. We all went to Fabius school. Carolyn and Diana would have been there when you were. Keep writing! A series sounds awfully good!

Jerry, I won’t be able to make it in person, but I will certainly be there in spirit. It’s a super read! For us ole folks, it brings back wonderful memories. For the “kids” of today, it provides a window into what it was like growing up during a different era — the similarities and the stark contrasts. For everyone, it is one of those rare, delightful and enchanting books that “you can’t put down!” Hope you have big crowds during the book tour, and I am really happy that you and Pamela are hitched.
